The mission of Sustain T&T is to become the primary platform in T&T for information and education services related to Sustainable and Green Living Activities. This includes Recycling, Permaculture, Green Technology, Energy Saving devices/technology, Remediation, Green Design etc.
Sustainable living is a lifestyle that is rooted in the philosophy of reducing an individual’s or society’s use of the Earth’s natural resources and his/her own resources. In the last several years, globally as well as here in Trinidad & Tobago, there has been a growing interest in and discussion about the protection and preservation of the environment, the use of alternative sources of energy, and the application of measures to encourage people to live sustainably on a daily basis, through their transportation, diet and recycling choices.
Through a Sustainable Living Conference and Showcase, this project will engage the local public in discussion on sustainable living through the following pillars:
Education: Through a Business Seminar and interactive workshops over a two-day period, attendees will learn about different aspects of sustainable living, and have the opportunity to engage in conversations with experts on a number of topics. We will also present and discuss case studies about various sustainable programs and initiatives.
Creation/Design: Through our workshops, attendees will learn how to create new and aesthetically interesting items from everyday materials.
Entrepreneurship: Sustainable living is a growing industry, and opportunities for implementing new business ideas will be explored. Integrating sustainable development principles improves the future of the community and quality of life, while creating opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. Local economic development can result in a reduction of waste and increases overall economic prosperity for the local community. One such aspect of local economic development is sustainable agriculture, which encourages sustainable land use, develops domestic markets, and increases national wealth. We aim to facilitate corporate partnerships which are increasingly important in facilitating growth and improving infrastructure.
